GNK Lighting was founded in 2019 by husband and wife team BJ and Shelby Hyman — built from the ground up with a simple belief: the best gaffers in Nashville deserve the best support.
When COVID brought the industry to a standstill, we didn't wait. We worked. Every piece of gear was meticulously dialed in. Custom carts were built. Special wrenches were fabricated. Apple boxes were stained by hand. Skirts and diffusions were sewn. Every penny and every spare hour poured into the first GNK Grip Van — until it was nearly perfect.
Then, in 2021, a flood took everything. The van. Our home. All of it.
We were back in two months.
A new van. Then six months later, another. Because that's who we are.
Today, GNK is building something bigger than a rental house — an ecosystem of preferred gaffers who expect more from their equipment and their support. Our fleet is meticulously maintained, our team is highly vetted, and our standard of professionalism extends from the tools on your set to the way we show up to it.
We exist to give directors and DPs one less thing to think about — so they can focus on what they came to do.
